Warm breakfast porridge with plant based milk

Just loving my warm porridge for breakfast in this chilly weather. The best way to start the day!?

Home made pumpkin/hemp seed milk with lots of warming and healing spices (like fresh ginger and turmeric, cinnamon, cardemon, maca, lucuma, cayenne), lightly cooked fruits with soaked & cooked quinoa.

Fresh ginger & turmeric roots have great health benefits. Best to eat/drink them every day. I always add ginger and turmeric to my juices (using the slow juicer), to the plant based milks I make and to the warm water I drink throughout the day. Ginger promotes regular digestion (so very beneficial when you feel bloated or constipated), it relaxes the smooth muscle in your gut lining and helps food move along throughout the system. It adds to a strong immune system and is antifungal and anti inflammatory.  Curcuma has powerful anti-inflammatory effects and is a very strong antioxidant.

And…I just LOVE the color of turmeric. I always use it when making the Balinese rice, soaked and cooked in coconut milk with freshly squeezed  turmeric. Brings back beautiful memories of Asia!

On my morning porridge, a topping of high quality MCT coconut oil, sprouted buckwheat and some soaked goji berries.
